Stay Connected.

Hi there & hope you’re coping well with your new way of life.

Connections. Life is all about staying connected, and the importance of staying connected with one another couldn’t have been realised without this time of being ‘locked-in’.

By now, day 16 of staying indoors, I’m quite certain that this time has been given to us to ‘Stay connected’.

As for us women, one of the best nourishment for our mental health is to nurture our relationships with our girlfriends, especially because we, most often, connect with our souls. We connect on a level where we are often support systems to each other in times of need which, evidently, is very good for our health.

Now, how would you do that whilst on lockdown? Well, we’re doing it now!

Online connection is valued most during this time of social distancing.

Can’t help but share with you about one such connection I recently made. I connected with a set of friends from the 4 ends of the globe via video conference; Annette was having breakfast; Trevs was to prepare lunch; I was sipping a cuppa green tea and Liz, who made this connection happen, was all set to call it a day.  And what a day it did turn out to be: we put our schedules on hold for the set time, dressed up a bit; as for me I was happy to get out of my home clothes into something better for a change and we all looked forward to connecting.

This connection sure did increase our happiness! It literally felt like a 2 hour visit to the spa! It didn’t feel like we were locked down or locked in for that moment anymore; it nourished our souls. Starting off as colleagues, say over 20 years ago, to losing touch along the way only to be connected back again on a plane as soul sisters; lifting each other up and then deciding to connect again!

We time travelled to our wedding days, laughed our hearts out over the silly things that we used to do. We shared updates on our families, exchanged footnotes on being moms, traded recipes,  and prayed; and just like that, in a flash, we felt connected again!

And as for me… it’s cheers to us, Liz, Annette & Trevs, cheers to reviving awesome memories of 20 years and cheers to building awesome memories of 20 years and more.

We laughed. We lifted our spirits. We connected again.

#StayConnected. It is the formula to happiness in this new way of life. It’s that magic pill to better mental health: it’s the new way of life.

Stay blessed. Stay connected. Stay safe.
